The scenario is the Middle Eastern and West African oil producing areas. Jon Leeds recounts his travels with graphic descriptions of the people and places he encountered, his tales are told in a laid back manner that reflects the unique humour of working men of all persuasions who are thrown together in a hard and often hostile environment. Jon links his overseas life with his visits home on leave where his time is spent mainly in the taproom of his local pub `The Shire` his cronies are a bunch of hard drinking, middle aged reprobates known collectively throughout the city as `The Team,` there in that sanctuary they gather and recall events and adventures they had shared in times gone by. Their recollections are mainly humorous, often downright hilarious, sometimes unbelievable but always interesting. The genre is mainly comedic, with a measure of pathos- always the strong Northern sense of humour shines through, illustrating the bond that exists between like minded companions who share a common heritage of a rapidly disappearing way of life.
